Everyone’s a critic

Today was the first full day of Summer, and of course it was dreary, cold, and windy. Very windy. We live on top of one of the tallest hills in the city and sometimes there are gusts that almost knock me down. Shimmer has the stability of four feet and he’s aerodynamic by design, so he has no problem with the wind.

Now wind chimes, that’s another issue. On our walk today, we passed an ivy-covered home with some trees in an overgrown yard. In the trees there were some metal tube wind chimes gonging away like some background music in a New Age song. Apparently, Shimmer had an opinion about New Age music he felt he needed to express and rather loudly.

Suddenly, an older woman appeared from nowhere. Startled, I said hello and introduced her to Shimmer. “I know that dog,” was her reply. “Why am I not surprised,” I thought to myself. We continued on, Shimmer occasionally still grumbling about the chimes, and me wondering about all the things Shimmer knows that I don’t.
